The first week of my 100 day spending ban is over and it's been pretty easy!
I was very tempted by the LUSH Happy Hour sales that were going on, but a quick look at my crazy beauty stash confirmed that I simply didn't need to get anything. I've been re-evaluating my stash a lot recently and have brought forward a bunch of products that are nearly used up so I'm hoping to have a LOT of empties this month.
I've also been making more use of my local library and have discovered their fantastic ordering in service where you can request books to be bought on your behalf. Last week, I requested around £40 worth of books to be ordered in which should be arriving next month. So that's £40 saved!
Work, essays for Uni and a spot of redecorating at home have been keeping busy busy busy and away from the shops and from browsing online, so I'm proud to say that I haven't spent anything on stuff that's on my banned list. Hoping that this week will be just as easy!

Yay! Looking forward to reading your updates :)
DeleteYou are doing so well, its cool that the local library buys books in for you -thats amazing!
ReplyDeleteI have been doing well, not been too tempted except for one handbag I saw in M&S when I went to buy my lunch in there the other day....I didnt buy it though - I dont *need* it!
I have been going to the gym instead of the shops at lunchtimes and I think that is really helping to keep me out of trouble! I will write an update this week.
Thanks for the link in your post :-)
Keep up the good work!
xxx
Thanks, good to hear that you're doing well too! I've been avoiding M&S because I always end up browsing at their accessories and knitwear, so I can understand how you'd be tempted! xxx
DeleteYou must have so much willpower, I don't think I couldn't spend (waste) money on things that I didn't actually need for a whole 100 days. I really should get a ban/ budget in order though. Student loan doesn't last forever :(

You should join in and try it :) It really is a lot easier than what I thought it would be, but then again, it's still early days! x
DeleteWell done! I wonder if my local library does that. My school library lets you borrow books from other schools in the area but I'm not sure if they'll buy it for you x
ReplyDeleteI only found out about my local library doing it because I was after a book for Uni that wasn't in their system - so definitely ask them x
DeleteWell done, I didn't see the point of me going on a spending ban as I don't spend that much, most of my money goes on driving lessons now. xxx
ReplyDeletewww.simplybeauty123.blogspot.co.uk
That's a much better use of money than spending it on beauty stuff! Good luck with your lessons :) xxx
DeleteWell done you are doing great! Be an inspiration for me this week! x
ReplyDeleteThanks and Good luck with yours! x
DeleteYour local library sounds fab! We have a little one in the town I live in but it's not all that great! Glad to hear you're doing well! I only started last Thursday but have been good so far :) xx
ReplyDeleteIt's brilliant - only started using it last year but definitely going to get more books out now! Good luck with yours :) xx
DeleteWell done you are doing so well, your library is brilliant, what a great service, look forward to more updates x
ReplyDeleteThanks hun! x
DeleteWell done, you are deffo on the right track. I'm on my own sort of unoffical ban, apart from 2 skincare items in the sales I've not bought any beauty items since before Christmas! Your library sounds great, mine is absolutely awful :( x
ReplyDeleteWell done to you too! Sorry to hear your library isn't any good, they're really hit and miss these days with all the cuts going on :( x
DeleteGood luck with your ban! That service at the library sounds great, I wish there were more near me that would be willing to do things like that. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Catherine! It is a shame that most libraries don't operate like that - so many are facing huge cuts at the mo :( xx
DeleteGlad it's going well lovely. I can't believe how many of us are doing the ban. It's amazing! x
ReplyDeleteI know, such a huge list of bloggers involved! x
DeleteWhat a great idea! Good luck :)

ReplyDeletexo
Hope yours goes well, it's a lot easier than it looks! :) xx
DeleteYou're doing great! I started the ban yesterday! I plan on going to the library a lot during the ban, though my library has a small fee for ordering books! x

Good luck with yours! I guess a small fee is better than paying full price :) x
