Health & Lifestyle: 3 Healthy Products To Try Out This Week

Tuesday 26 January 2016

Keep that New Year resolution of living healthier going strong with these three products which are super easy to incorporate into your daily routine.

(1) Try A New Green Tea
I like green tea but I don't love it like some people do. I think it's because I have a major sweet tooth and I find a lot of green teas to be quite bitter. If you're the same, try one that's blended with a natural flavouring instead. Most supermarkets will have a good range to choose from and my current favourite is Clipper Pear & Honey Green Tea* (20 unbleached bags, £1.59, link). It's got a sweet fruitiness from the pear which is matched perfectly with the honey to counter balance the overall green tea flavour - it's delicious! It's also  fairtrade and currently on offer for just £1 in Waitrose; needless to say I have stocked up!

(2) Don't Forget Your Vitamins
One of the key rules that I have when it comes to purchasing vitamins and supplements is to make sure that they don't have any extra crap in them. You'd be surprised by how many brands use totally unnecessary fillers and bulkers, so always, always read the label before parting with your hard earned cash. Britsh brand, WiDEYE stock a good range and they're all free from artificial colours, bulkers, fillers, flavours, sweetners, starch, porcine etc. Their A-Z Multi Vitamins & Minerals* (60 tablets, £4.95, link) are a great all rounder to take daily and help to support a healthy heart, improve digestion and boost your immune system. They currently have a 3 for 2 offer on their supplements until the end of January making them even more affordable.

(3) Oils, Oils, Oils!
A lot of us don't get enough Omega fatty acids, especially Omega 3 which is essential for keeping your heart healthy, protecting joints, staying healthy mentally, keeping skin plump, nails strong and there are current studies to suggest diets high in omega 3 can protect against Dementia and Alzheimer's. Taking a good quality oil blend high in Omega 3 can help and something like Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend* (500ml, £21.99, link) is super easy to take. This oil blend has been formulated with a 2:1:1 ratio of Omega 3, 6 and 9 and derives these essential fatty acids from a mix of Flax, Sesame and Sunflower Seed Oils, as well as oils from Evening Primrose, Rice Germ, Oat Germ and Coconut. It's Vegan Society accredited, organic and gluten-free. To use, simply consume around 3-4 spoonfuls a day however way you wish; try it mixed in with pasta, blended with smoothies, drizzled over steamed or roast vegetables or added to dips and homemade salad dressings. Easy!
